Blenheim coaching staff wins award

The Blenheim Blades coaching staff was honoured with the Stobbs Division coaches-of-the-year award.
The Blades had a successful season, finishing with a 30-10-2 record, which placed the Blades third in the Stobbs Division. The team set a franchise record for wins and points in a regular season.
The Blades’ coach staff includes; head coach Grant Spence, assistant coaches Shadd Smith, Jay Rirchie and goalie coach Jake Fancy.
The 25 year-old Spence was in his first year as head coach with Blenheim. His younger brother, Craig, was a Blades captain and is in their Hall of Fame. Craig died in April 2024.
The Blades are currently playing the Wheatley Sharks in a Stobbs Division quarterfinal playoff. They hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game two is tonight (Wednesday, February 25), with game three tomorrow night in Blenheim.
