Maroons earn big win on the road

As the final week of the regular season is upon us, the Chatham Maroons earned a big victory to help their chances of clinching first place in the GOHL’s Western
The Maroons beat the Elmira Sugar Kings 6-2 in Elmira on Wednesday night. It was their ninth straight victory.
The game had a playoff atmosphere, as Elmira picked up 56 minutes in penalties, while Chatham had 34 minutes in penalties. Overall, the game featured 14 roughing penalties and six unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. If you like old-time Eddie Shore hockey—this was your game.
Chatham rookies Alexander Lisi and Max Skinner led the Maroons with two goals each. Carter Chadwick and Trevor Zanutto adding single goals. Jaxon Priddle had three assists.
Samuel DiBlasi earned the win in the Chatham net.
The Maroons travel to Komoka on Saturday night and host Stratford on Sunday. If the Maroons win both games they will clinch first-place in the Western Conference. Currently, the Maroons lead the Conference with 75 points, while St. Marys is in second with 74 points and Elmira is third with 73 points. Chatham and Elmira have two games left on their regular season schedules, while Elmira has one game left.
Notes: Sunday’s game will be the last regular season GOHL game for five Maroon overagers. Bo Doxtator, Jaxon Priddle, Aydan Doyle, Braeden Burke and Evan Krell will be recognized by the Chatham Jr Maroons hockey club in a pre-game ceremony.
