Schinkelshoek two time gold medal winner at OFSAA

Pain Court swimming sensation Gavin Schinkelshoek won two gold medals at the OFSAA swimming meet held March 3-4 in Windsor.
Schinkelshoek set an OFSAA record in the open boys 100 metre backstroke, with a time of 54.93 seconds in the prelims. He won with a time of 55 seconds.
Schinkelshoek, a Grade 11 student at ESPC, also was golden in the open boys 100 metre freestyle.
The previous record-holder in the 100 metre backstroke was Greyson Bernard, who set the record in 2019 with a time of 55.06. Bernard swam for Northwestern University and was a member of the Canadian junior national team.
Fellow Patriotes swimmer Payton Rinas made it to the open girls 100 metre backstroke final and finished seventh overall
Pain Court’s entry in the 200 metre medley relay finshed 16th overall. The team included Schinkelshoek (back), Eric Qui (breast), Jack Harrigan (butterfly) and Xavier Caron (freestyle).
A total of 2,100 swimmers took part in the OFSAA meet.
