TJ Brodie officially retires from NHL

It’s official, T,J. Brodie has retired from the NHL.
Raised in Eberts, and playing his minor hockey in Dresden and with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones, Brodie played 962 NHL games from 2010 to 2025, recording 58 goals and 358 points with the Flames, Maple Leafs, and Blackhawks.
Last season, Brodie didn’t play in the NHL, but didn’t file his official retirement paperwork until recently.
Brodie told CKSN in April that he still hadn’t filed the retirement paperwork but he was officially retired.
“It’s time. Time to let the kids settle down in one spot and not have to move around and change schools and stuff,” Brodie said.
“I got to play a lot longer than most guys did, I’m very fortunate for that. It’s time to be back with the family and the people that mean the most (to me).”
Brodie kept busy last winter playing in the Wallaceburg Recreational hockey league where he was a top defencman for the Rhinos.
“It was great,” Brodie said of his time playing recreational hockey in Wallaceburg this past season. “It’s always great to play with the guys.”
Brodie was joined on the Rhinos with his cousin Nolan Ross.
“It was a way to stay in shape and still get out to play.”
