Local lacrosse players playing at world junior lacrosse championship

Reese Sands and Brayden Sands are currently playing for Team Haudenosaunee at the 2026 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship.
Both Reese and Brayden played this past season for the Wallaceburg Red Devils.
The tournament takes place from June 28 to July 3, at the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks, Alberta. This under-22 (U22) tournament features men’s teams from Australia, Canada, the Haudenosaunee, Poland, and the United States.
So far in three games in the round robin, Haudenosaunee has a 1-2 record. Reese Sands has two goals and two assists for four points, while Brayden Sands has two goals and an assist for three points.
Haudenosaunee plays their final round-robin game against Australia tomorrow (July 2).
In 2024 and 2025, Bothwell’s Mason Myers played for Team Canada. In 2024, Port Lambton’s Kaelen Smith also played for Canada. In 2022, Wallaceburg’s Tyler Davis was Team Canada’s captain. Davis played for Canada (East) in 2021,
