Chatham Sports Hall of Fame names 2026 class
The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has announced their class of 2026.
Max Allin (athlete-modern), Paul Allen (athlete-legend), Jason Chickowski (builder) and the 1972-73 Chatham Jr. Maroons (team) are the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame’s latest honourees.
Max Allin
Allin was a three-time UCC athlete of the year. One of the top basketball high school recruits in the province, Allin choose to go to Wilfred Laurier University to play basketball, even though he had three older brothers who played for the Windsor Lancers.
Allin had a good five-year career with Lauier and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2020.
As a Golden Hawk, Allin was a four-time OUA all-star during his five seasons at Laurier (2009-14). He was the OUA rookie of the year in 2010.
When he left Laurier, Allin was their all-time leader in rebounds and assists, and second on the Golden Hawks’ career scoring list and fifth all-time in the OUA..
Allin, an Ursuline graduate, was a second-team all-Canadian in 2012-13 after leading the country in scoring with 23.2 points per game. He was also top 10 in the country in rebounds and assists.
After Lauier, Allin played in Australia, earning league defensive player honours and helping his team to the championship finals.
Paul Allen
Paul Allen will be inducted in the legend category for baseball. Allen was a three-time OBA provincial champion. He had a nine-year career in the Intercounty Baseball League from 1963 until 1972, was a two-time IBL all-star, and named one of the top 30 London Majors players of all time.
Jason Chickowski
Jason Chickowski is being inducted in the Builder category for his work with Chatham Minor Baseball as a coach and executive. He has been president of CMBA for over 15 years, in which time minor baseball has seen great growth.
Chatham Jr. Maroons 1972-73
The 1972-73 Chatham Jr. Maroons, winners of the 73 Buckland Cup, are being honoured in the team category.
The team had a slow start, with a 3-9-3 record, but went on a tear for the rest of the season, finishing 33-9-8.
The Maroons roster included future NHL players Ken Houston, Vern Stenlund and Randy MacGregor.
An induction ceremony to honour the Class of 2026 is scheduled to take place on September 24 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre.
The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame is located in Memorial Arena.
