Noah VanNeck makes Team Ontario roster for nationals

Noah VanNeck has been selected to represent Team Ontario at the 2026 Legion National Championships, which will be held in Regina Sask.in August.

Last weekend in Sudbury, the Cedar Springs resident won two golds and one silver at the Ontario Legion track and field championships. He won gold in shot put and hammer, and silver in discus in the under 18 boys category. He set personal bests in the shot put and hammer.

VanNeck represented the London Western Track and Field Club at nationals last year after not making Team Ontario. He used the snub as motivation, winning two gold (shot put and discus) and a silver (hammer) in 2025.

VanNeck, who is going into Grade 11 at Chatham-Kent Secondary School, is a four time OFSAA gold medalist in track and field in shot put and discus. Even though he specializes in the throws, he is still athletic enough to qualify for OFSAA cross-country the past two years.

His personal bests include: shot put 17.57 metres, hammer throw 54.87 metres and discus 49.81 metres.
