Hazell follows mom’s footsteps at St. Clair

Chatham’s Kamryn Hazell has had a strong start for the St. Clair College softball team.

The Chatham-Kent grad has a 2-1 record and a 3.37 ERA. She has 27 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched.

Hazell won the Ontario and Eastern Canadian U15 championships in 2022 with the Chatham Golden Eagles. She also played at the 2023 Canadian U15 and 2024 Canadian U17 championships.

Her mother, Sara Hazell (nee Neve), who grew up in Wallaceburg, won the best defensive player award on the first St. Clair softball team in 2002 and won the coaches award in 2003.

Sara Hazell has been a long-time coach with the Golden Eagles organization, as well as an executive member.
