Chatham Maroons have a win-win night

It was a win-win night for the Chatham Maroons.

The Maroons defeated the Strathroy Rockets 3-2 in overtime on Sunday night at Chatham Memorial Arena.

Parker Nyitray scored the winner for Chatham in overtime, with Andrew Baker and Michael Robertson also adding single goals.

Chatham sits in second place in the GOHL’s Western Conference with a 10-2 record.

The game was also Breast Cancer Awareness Night. The Maroons wore pink game jerseys as a tribute to the survivors of breast cancer.

The sweaters were donated by Simply Vinyl Signs & Graphics and Sal & Son again this year.

They were autographed by the player wearing that jersey and then auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Breast Buddies.

Other silent auction items that were available included:

Maroons and Breast Buddies have strong bond

The Chatham Maroons and the Breast Buddies dragon boat team have built a strong partnership since 2014.

Earlier this month, the Maroons joined the Breast Buddies for their final practice of the season, paddling along the east branch of the Sydenham River.

The players then helped lift the dragon boat out of the water and clean it before the boat is stored for the winter.

The Maroons hockey club has been a strong supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising money for the Breast Buddies and the Canadian Cancer Society.
