Chatham’s Kamryn Hazell capped off a fabulous freshman season, earning a win on the mound in the championship game to help the St. Clair Saints win the OCAA women’s softball title on the weekend before a home crowd.

St. Clair College captured their seventh OCAA Women’s Softball Championship Provincial title Saturday afternoon after a dramatic 6-5 walk-off win over Durham College (Oshawa) on their campus SportsPark diamond.

Hazell earned her second pitching win of the championship for St. Clair after throwing four effective innings in relief with no walks and a pair of strikeouts. She only allowed one run to keep the Saints in the game.

Hazell (2.10 ERA) was named to the championship all-star team for St. Clair.

The Saints finished the season with a 28-8 overall record including exhibition and championship play. This is the third time in school history that the women’s softball team were able to win both the CCSA National and OCAA Provincial crown.
