Hawks, Lancers Win Hockey Openers

The CKSS girls hockey team won their high school opener

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks opened the LKSSAA girls hockey season with a dominating win over Wallaceburg.

The Golden Hawks took an 8-0 victory on a snowy day at Erickson Arena.

Taylor Lockwood and Sydney Sabourin paced the Golden Hawks with two goals and an assist each. Also scoring for the CKSS girls hockey team were Ryanne Logan, Brooke Foster, Olivia Henry, and Megan Hakr.

Sarandon Vanlandegham faced 56 shots, turning away 48 for the Wallaceburg Tartans.

Earlier this week, the UCC Lancers also opened their LKSSAA girls hockey season with a win, routing the Lambton-Kent Cardinals 7-1.

Sydnee Baker scored 5 goals in the win, while Maddy Lalonde and Amber Lumley also scored. Lalonde also had 5 assists, as did Lauren Nicholson for the Lancers.

CKSS and UCC got head to head next Wednesday at 2:30pm at Erickson Arena in Chatham.
