Hawks Shutout Lancers In Girls Hockey
The CKSS Golden Hawks took a 2-0 shutout victory Monday night at Erickson Arena in Chatham over the UCC Lancers in LKSSAA girls hockey.
Hunter Gagner opened the scoring for CKSS, firing a shot from the blueline, which beat UCC netminder Larissa McFadden through a screen. Payton Sabourin picked up the lone assist.
Heading into the third period up 1-0, Megan Hakr broke in around a UCC defender to make it it 2-0 only 10 seconds into the frame. Haley Smith assisted on the goal.
From there out, the Golden Hawks rode strong defence, and a 28 save performance by Emma Gorski, who collected the shutout in net, to take the win.
The win improves the CKSS Hawks to 3-1 on the season, and drops UCC to 3-1. This was UCC’s first LKSSAA loss in more than two years.
The CKSS Golden Hawks are back in action Wednesday at home against the Ridgetown Royals.
