AirHawks win gold in Markham

The Wallaceburg Airhawks U19 basketball team capped off a strong weekend by winning the gold medal championship for the Last 1’s Standing Summer Classic in Markham.

Saturday Game 1 – The Airhawks opened the tournament with a commanding 67–28 victory over True North, fueled by four decisive scoring runs (7-0, 10-0, 10-0, 15-0). The team shot an impressive 67% on two-point attempts (18/27).

Game 2 – In their second game, the Airhawks faced CBA and came up short, falling 67–57. However, thanks to their strong point differential—the Airhawks secured the #1 seed, advancing directly to the championship game.

Championship Game – In the final, the Airhawks defeated FH Academy 60–50 to claim the gold medal. The team went on two big runs (8-0 and 11-0), shot 55% on field goal attempts (18/33), and converted 75% from the free throw line to seal the win.

It was an outstanding showing of teamwork, resilience, and composure, with the Airhawks finishing the weekend 2–1 and standing as champions.
