Some of Canada’s top squash players will be coming to Chatham for a tournament.

The Purple and White Jack Fairs Open will take place on Wednesday (5-8 p.m.) and Thursday (6-9 p.m.) at the Maple City Squash Club. The public is invited to watch.

Other Round 1 and 2 matches will take place in Sarnia on Wednesday and Thursday, with the semifinals and finals scheduled for London on September 26 and 27.

Full draws are available at nashcup.com under the Jack Fairs tab.

The event was created in partnership with the Nash Cup, held in London for the last number of years. The JFO is exclusive to young Canadian players looking to gain valuable points as they start their journey as a Professional Squash Player.

Chatham’s own Gabe VanMoorsel will be making his PSA debut at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Jack Fairs is legendary in southwestern Ontario, provincial and national squash worlds. Fairs died in 2021 at the age of 98. Fairs worked at Western University for over half a century and is well known and respected for his extensive contributions in physical education and coaching, particularly in the sport of squash.
