Soney’s overtime goal sends Lancers to OFSAA

Azlynn Soney was the overtime hero for the Ursuline Lancers girls hockey team,…again.

Soney, a Grade 9 forward, scored in the third overtime in the SWOSSAA girls hockey AAA final on Wednesday at Chatham Memorial Arena. The winning goal gave the Lancers a 6-5 win over the Villanova Wildcats and a trip to the OFSAA tournament.

Jocalin Hastings scored two goals and Kayonah Soney had one for the Lancers, who scored three unanswered goals in the third period to tie the game up and send it to overtime.

Soney scored three goals in the game. She scored the overtime winner last week in the LKSSAA girls hockey AAA final against Chatham-Kent.

The Lancers will play in the OFSAA tournament March 24-26 in LaSalle. As host, Villanova will also play in the provincial high school tourney.
